Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Your Study Buddy stores, why it is used, and the choices available to you.
Effective October 24, 2026
1. Information stored on your device
Most study activity can remain in your browser or installed app. This can include personal study sets, notes, imported files, images, review history, schedules, preferences, and backups. Unless a feature says otherwise, this information is not uploaded to an online account.
2. Information collected when you sign in
If you choose Google sign-in, we receive the verified Google account identifier, email address, name, and profile image needed to create and secure your account. We also store the display name and unique username you select. We do not receive your Google password.
3. Synced study information
Supported personal decks, folders, preferences, streaks, saved-set state, and Anki progress may be stored with your account so they can follow you between supported web sessions. Large PDFs, large note images, and device-only files are not included in account sync unless the app clearly says otherwise.
4. Community information
When you publish or interact with Community, we store the published material, description, display name, username, ratings, saves, and reports needed to operate and protect the service. Published items remain public until you remove them. Making your profile private hides your profile library, but it does not unpublish individual items.
5. How information is used
- Provide accounts, progress sync, studying, publishing, ratings, and reports.
- Secure the service, prevent abuse, investigate reports, and enforce Community Guidelines.
- Maintain reliability and diagnose errors.
- Respond to support, deletion, privacy, and copyright requests.
6. Service providers
Google provides account authentication. Cloudflare provides hosting and account and Community storage. These providers process information on our behalf under their own applicable terms and privacy commitments. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for third-party advertising.
7. Cookies and sessions
After sign-in, an essential secure session cookie keeps you signed in. It is not an advertising cookie. Sessions normally expire within 30 days and can be ended sooner by signing out.
8. Retention and deletion
Online profile and synced information are retained while your account is active. You can unpublish items individually or delete your online account in Settings. Account deletion removes the online profile, synced progress, publications, ratings, reports, and active sessions associated with the account. It does not erase information stored locally on your devices or copies another user previously saved.
9. Your choices
You can use offline features without signing in, export supported local information, change profile visibility, remove publications, sign out, or delete your online account. For a privacy or access request that cannot be completed in the app, contact support@yourstudybuddy.net.
10. Age
Online accounts and Community features are intended for people age 13 or older. Do not create an online account or publish personal information if you are under 13.
11. Security and changes
We use reasonable safeguards, but no service can guarantee perfect security. We may update this policy as features or legal requirements change. Material changes will be identified by a new effective date.
